Greg Izor

Bluesmondharmonica-krachtpatser Greg Izor wordt erkend als een van de belangrijke nieuwe stemmen in de blues- en mondharmonicawereld. Met de release van verschillende geprezen albums en vlammende live-optredens heeft hij zichzelf bewezen als een muzikant om rekening mee te houden. Izor’s muziek is diep geworteld in een traditioneel geluid en gevormd door de invloed van de bekende mondharmonica-meesters, evenals Louisiaanse blues, zuidelijke soul, swamppop, vroege jazz en R&B. Zijn spel zoekt voortdurend de grenzen op. ”I do some unusual things, but I prefer that it’s not noticeable, that whatever it is just fits the song and sounds.”

In 2024 verscheen het nieuwe album van zanger en mondharmonica-virtuoos Greg Izor. ‘Sustained Winds’  is ontstaan met Greg’s spaanse vrienden Cesar Crespo, Javi Suarez, Luis Maldonado, Christian Morana, Pascu Monje en Paul San Martin. Van het album verschenen eerder al de singles ‘Go Ahead On’ en ‘Please Understand’.

Wat meteen opviel was de helderheid in de opnames: “I want it to sound like you are in the room with us“, legt Greg uit. Wat ook opviel was de diversiteit aan liedjes: “The songs are quite different from other blues records, there’s a lot of country and New Orleans R&B influence there along with the traditional stuff.”
